Jo is a graduate student working with Jim Zachos and Mathis Hain on problems related to massive Eocene carbon addition to the climate system. She is looking to address these questions through reconstructing and modeling past changes.
Shannon is a Earth and Planetary Science major at UC Santa Cruz. As part of her thesis she is using carbon cycle models to investigate how ocean circulation change may affect the reconstructed rate of carbon release during Paleogene hyper thermal events.
I am interested in the evolution of climate, specifically periods of abrupt climate change, in hopes of better understanding what climatic changes may lie ahead. I am also interested in the carbon cycle and it’s impact on climate in the past.
